Throughout American history blacks were discriminated an against because of the color of their skin. Blacks were subsistent to their masters. Whites would physically abuse their African American slaves by castrating, lynching, raping, and stripping black men of their manhood. White males performed these punishments because they felt intimidated by African American. They could not fathom the idea that African Americans were smarter or more physically stronger so they prohibited blacks from reading and writing. Knowledge is power and whites stripped blacks from these basic rights because they feared that if blacks were given the chance to get an education, blacks would rebel against them. Basically, whites always want to be in control of resources, political and social power. Unfortunately, Africans were brought from their home unwillingly to be exploited and abused, and whites advanced.

Your post nicely summarize the torture Black men suffered at the hands of white men. But think about what this suggests about masculinity? You make a gesture toward this issue by noting that white men were afraid of what Black men could achieve if given the chance, but this needs to be developed.
ReplyDeleteI agree with miss B, this seems more like a summary rather than a thesis. Try asking a question or continue with the idea you had about white men being afraid or possibly inferior to black men based on what they could achieve.
